School Closing Information

School closing or cancellation information will be carried locally by the following Milwaukee media outlets:

The District kindly requests that telephone calls concerning this matter be avoided, as the information will be available well ahead of our regular school start time.

It's important to note that our standard practice and policy dictate that children go outside for recess, unless the temperature, or temperature combined with wind chill, falls below zero degrees. We ensure adequate supervision and assess weather conditions throughout the day to determine indoor or outdoor recess.

During the winter months, students should dress appropriately, wearing hats, coats, gloves, and boots, so they can go outside when weather permits.

The Randall Student Handbook clearly states that "all students are expected to go outside for recess. Exceptions will be granted solely for medical conditions. Students exempt from outdoor recess must provide a doctor’s note explaining the reason for this deviation from the rule."

Unless there's a medical excuse on file for your child(ren), they will participate in outdoor recess on days when outdoor activities are scheduled. However, if weather conditions are unsuitable, they will stay indoors and receive proper supervision. We prioritize safety and will not send students outside when conditions indicate they should remain indoors.
