Becoming a substitute is easy!

  1. Complete an online application with Teachers on Call. https://www.teachersoncall.com/talent/apply-now
  2. Once you have completed your application, contact our onboarding team by calling 800.713.4439 (press 2 when prompted)
  3. Based on the substitute role you are interested in, our team will direct you toward the training options and license options that are most appropriate, as well as guide you on the steps needed to complete any of those requirements. *
  4. Complete any remaining necessary or required steps for employment with Teachers On Call as guided or requested by our onboarding team
  5. Start making a difference in the classroom, you are ready to go!

  • To qualify for a Substitute Teacher position, you must have a valid Wisconsin teaching license in any content area OR a valid Wisconsin substitute teaching license. You must hold a minimum of an Associates college degree in order to obtain a Wisconsin substitute teaching license.
  • To qualify for an Educational Aide position, you must possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • To qualify for a Special Education Aide position, you must possess the following in addition to a high school diploma or equivalent:

The Wisconsin Department of Instruction (DPI) is responsible for issuing all teaching licenses.
