A 5th grade Computer/Science Project:
Introduction:
Biomes are large
ecosystems in the world. Each biome has its own unique plants and animals.
Biomes are defined by the temperature and precipitation of that region.
Major biomes include:
deserts, forests (tropical
rain, temperate, boreal),
grasslands, tundra, taiga, and several types of aquatic environments. In
this web quest you will research a specific biome and create a biome box and
brochure. You will also share what you have learned with the group.
Task:
Here are the steps you need to take to complete this project:
1.) Research your biome using your text book and the purple science book. As you research fill out the note taking sheet.
2.) Research your biome using the websites on the 5th grade page. As you research fill out the note taking sheet.
Here are links to three biome sites:
3.) Use your research to design your biome box. Your biome box should be decorated on the inside and the outside. The box is meant to be a small version of your biome and should include animals, plants, and an appropriate background.
4.) Use your research to create a biome brochure in computer class. Mrs. Phillips will help you with this. The brochure needs to include accurate information as well as pictures.
5.) Once your biome box and brochure are completed you will share your information with the rest of the class.
*****Through out the project you need to divide the work evenly with your group member(s).
Evaluation:
Your biome box will be graded with a rubric. Click here to see it.
Your biome brochure will be graded with a rubric. Click here to see it.
Conclusion:
Congratulations! You did it. We hope you learned a lot about the world's biomes as well as working with others to complete your goal.
